Africa Unlimited's experienced astronomy guides offer an entertaining and informative presentation of the African night sky, followed by viewing of the moon, planets, constellations and other heavenly bodies through a Meade computerised telescope. The star gazing evenings are a joint initiative between Africa Unlimited and Astronomy Africa.

The star gazing shows are not only for astronomers or night sky enthusiasts. The astronomy evenings are more about an experience in the bush, watching the sun set, relaxing in comfortable chairs whilst enjoying a sundowner and snacks. But once dark, the real spectacle begins - appearance of the Milky Way, the stars, constellations, clusters such as the colourful Jewel Box and of course the planets.

The star gazing evenings consist of:

  • A late afternoon drive to a remote viewing site in the bush adjoining Kruger National Park

  • An introductory talk about the southern skies and star lore by a Sky Ranger

  • Night sky viewing through a large, state of the art telescope, set up and operated on site

  • Hearty African braai with delicious dessert

  • Return transfer to your accommodation in Phalaborwa

  • Bookings are essential: Minimum 4, Maximum 15 people

Come join us in Phalaborwa for this exciting astronomy event or incorporate a star gazing evening into your tour or expedition.

Large group and tailor made astronomy shows in Limpopo and Mpumalanga can be arranged on request, where our Sky Ranger can hold the star gazing show at your venue.
